I always suffer from very heavy and painful flow, so the blood gushes often make me uncomfortable even just after having changed to a new pad. I also get abrasion from the pads by the end of my period. I have been trying to look for a 'greener' feminine product to replace my disposable pads. I was not too fond of menstrual cups as they were too messy to handle, then I came across cloth pads. After reading numerous reviews of Charlie Banana pads, I took the plunge and bought some. After I switched to CB feminine pads, I was amazed to observe that the condition improved almost immediately. The blood seemed to gush less and was absorbed faster into the cloth layer, so it felt less sticky compared to when using disposable pads. One thing I note is that there was no longer this occasional smell of stale blood. The best part is that the pads felt so soft against my skin compared to the disposables. YMMV, but for me who stay in the tropics and experience hot weather practically every day, the cloth pads did not make me feel uncomfortable. They may be thicker than the usual disposables, but the comfort more than makes up for the bulk. The laundering of used pads is also not as troublesome as initially thought. It merely took a minute or two to wash the blood out from each pad and launder with a soap stick and stain remover. They are then soaked in a basin filled with water until the next laundry day. Last but not least, I hope that iHerb will bring in more stocks - they are sold out too fast! - as well as more different designs of Charlie Banana. They are a godsend for ladies who are looking for more alternatives to disposable feminine products so as to avoid adding to the landfill.
